Best face forward.
A quote I read earlier resonated with me: “Be the same person: privately, publicly, and personally.” Riddled with spelling and convention errors, I opted not to post the image of said quote. However, I felt the message was worth sharing and pretty well sums up where my thoughts have taken me in these past number of weeks. There is much truth in the words. Perhaps Miss Maudie Atkinson in my beloved classic “To Kill a Mockingbird” said it best about Atticus: “Atticus Finch is the same in his house as he is on the public streets.”
Whether you know me a little or a lot, you can be pretty well guaranteed that what you see is what you get. I am quirky as well as passionate and excited about many things. And I pride myself on being nice - almost to a fault. The sarcasm and litres of tea I consume a day pretty well balances everything out.
I don’t believe in putting on airs. When some apply their moisturizer and make-up in the morning or gaze at their reflection to shave, it must be difficult to tell which face is being put forward. This has absolutely nothing to do with beauty! There’s not much that can be done for an ugly personality.
Please do not misinterpret this as a belief that I feel am better than anyone. There is nothing further from the truth! It drives me absolutely bonkers when some people walk around all freaking holier than thou. We all entered the world in one way or another and someday our earthly bodies will occupy an urn or a plot somewhere. Be humble always! Never look down on ANYONE unless you’re helping them up.

In 1987, the thrash metal band Anthrax produced their hit classic “Imitation of Life” from the album “Beyond the Living”. I don’t know if it was an intentional move to record it and place it as the very last song on side two. However, it was effective as the song offers much to reflect on. Though the band was singing about the music industry, much of the lyrics can be applied to life.
“. . . They just can't be themselves, and live their own lives out
They're just an imitation of what life's all about
. . . For them this bullshit, it's their whole life
Cut through their bullshit with a knife
IMITATION OF LIFE.”
I speak a lot but I also smile and bite my tongue more often, perhaps, than any 41 year old woman should. I just wish people in general - youth and adults alike - were kinder to each other. I wish people would wake up and see what’s REAL.
